Dorothy

FarmHer

Dorothy is my Moma. Our yard was always full of flowers. Marigolds, Cannas, Sweet Alyssum, Impatients and Black-Eyed Susans were always in the mix. She designed everything herself although I don’t think she thought of it as designing. She planted what she liked and it was always beautiful. She took a lot of pride in her garden and still does - kicking absolute ass at 77. (She just repaired a fence section in the front pasture!) It seemed like she had the magic touch for sure but there was also a butt-ton of hard work that happened after she got off work - to keep everything weeded, watered and looking fine. She’s got the magic touch when it comes to flowers and she’s the pied piper of animals. Everything loves her. Thank goodness I inherited her love for growing pretty flowers.

Moma’s nickname is Doodle Bug cause she used to play in the doodle bug holes. (If you don’t know you’ll have to google it. It was a thing.) She can sing anything and could have made a good living with her voice. She loves horses. She loves the look, sound and smell of them. I inherited that from her too. She is one of the smartest and strongest women I know. Oh and she’s famous. She was on season 2 of FarmHer on RFD. This photo is courtesy of Marji at FarmHer. Check it out.
